MLB This Week: Quintana’s latest audition

by Matt Smith

With the amateur draft behind us, the trade deadline rumours are starting to begin in earnest and – as with every year – starting pitchers are on the minds of many of the teams that fancy themselves as play-off contenders.

Jose Quintana surprisingly was still on the White Sox’s roster when Opening Day came around after an off-season of trade rumours.

He hasn’t done much to help his team get a prospect haul for him though as his 2017 season so far has been underwhelming to say the least. He’s scheduled to pitch against the Twins in an early game on Thursday and so it’s a convenient time for us to see if his performances have been better than his results would suggest.

That’s one of ten games beginning before midnight UK time this working week. Other starting pitchers currently scheduled to take the mound include Max Scherzer, Marcus Stroman, Ivan Nova and Carlos Martinez.

All times are in BST.
