Watch history live this week (if you’re lucky!)

by Matt Smith

With so many record-breaking feats occurring at the moment, you don’t want to miss out on watching them live if you can (well, live on a thirty-second or so delay at least). Tom Glavine got win number 300 last night live on Five and there’s plenty more action to catch at MLB.com over the rest of the week. Here’s this week’s guide to baseball taking place during the British evening time. All times are listed in BST.

Monday – One live game and it’s being played right now. The Yanks and the Blue Jays are battling it out at Rogers Centre with Andy Pettitte on the mound for NY.

Tuesday – No games at a convenient time. If Bonds didn’t hit number 756 on Monday, you can tune in from 03.15 in the early hours of Wednesday morning to see if he gets there against the Nationals.

Wednesday – One early game as the Brewers’ youngster Yovani Gallardo looks to continue his excellent form against Jeff Francis (who’s also having a great year) and the Rockies. First pitch is scheduled for 20.05. Later on, there’s a top pitching match-up from the NL Central as Carlos Zambrano and the Cubs take on Roy Oswalt and the Astros from 01.05.

Thursday – Five early games to enjoy today. Tim Hudson faces Orlando Hernandez in a NL East clash from 17.10 while the Dodgers and the Reds start twenty-five minutes later. The D-Rays and the Tigers take to the field at 18.05 with two exciting young pitchers in Scott Kazmir and Jeremy Bonderman set to start. Another young starter, the Twins’ Matt Garza, faces the Royals at 19.10 and the Nationals and the Giants begin their game at 20.35.

Friday – No early games, but some exciting pitching match-ups to enjoy in the early hours of Saturday. Camden Yards is the setting for Dice-K’s latest outing while Phil Hughes makes his second start since coming off the DL against the Tribe and Fausto Carmona (both at 00.05).
