BGB Fantasy League 2012 Week Ten

Last week we had a three-way tie at the top of the BaseballGB Fantasy League. Who would be leading the way after week 10’s results?

We begin with the week’s big winners, as YD33s fell a win and a hold shy of a clean sweep against the Expats. Plouffe, Headley and Blanco carried the offense, while Kennedy and CJ Wilson pitched well and Wilhelmsen had three saves. The Expats had a tough week, going homerless with the bats and posting a team ERA of more than 9. Ondrusek’s hold gave them one category.

The Riverkings had an offensive sweep on the way to a 9-3 win against the Vendors. Heyward, Wright and Saunders all had nice weeks with the bat, while Greinke, Lynn, Clippard and Motte helped take wins, saves and strikeouts. Bedard and Cain pitched well for the Vendors, helping to take ERA and WHIP, while Joel Peralta, Javier Lopez and Sipp combined for four holds.

The Sox also picked up a 9-3 win, as the pitching staff did most of the damage against the RBIs. Burnett won twice, Chen and McCarthy also chipped in with solid starts and Grilli had two holds. CarGo and Kubel each homered twice. The RBIs had nice weeks from and Zimmerman and Cespedes while Soriano, Capps and Rodney combined for five saves.

Lowrie and Bautista each homered three times as my Isotopes beat Base On Balls 7-4. Kuroda and Price each pitched well and Bastardo recorded 11 strikeouts out of the bullpen. Smith and Carroll helped Margaret win average, OPS and steals while Vogelsong won twice and Chris Perez had three saves.

A big power week helped Bonestalkers beat an injury-riddled Beck ‘Nams 7-4. Trumbo and Soriano each homered four times as the hitters took five categories and Jansen had three saves. Pagan and Ryan Roberts were Beck ‘nams top hitters, while Harrison, Axford and Putz each won a game.

Another matchup, another 7-4. This time the Anglers defeated daebhid2 thanks to multi-homer weeks from Miguel Cabrera, Hunter and La Roche. Cahill, Gio Gonzalez and Nova all pitched well and Benoit had three holds. Craig and Walker were daebhid’s tip hitters and Dempster won twice.

Iron Men’s pitchers won five categories on the way to a 7-4 win against the Bolts. Gallardo made the difference in strikeouts while Venters had three holds and Myers had two saves. Victorino and Espinosa made the difference in RBIs and steals. Russell Martin homered four times for the Bolts, while Freese also had a nice week.

SWAT picked up a win against the Angels, and wouldn’t you know, it finished 7-4. Bourn, Beltran and Pence made it a productive week for the SWAT outfield, while Kershaw, Morrow and Diamond all pitched well and Johnson and Nathan each had a save. The Angels had homers from eight different players, including three from Morales, while Lee struck out 20.

An offensive sweep helped the Stuff defeat the Chasers 7-5. Trout, Pujols, Uggla and Dunn all had great weeks with the bat while the Giants Romo and Casilla combined for three saves. The Chasers took the remaining pitching stats, picking up wins from six pitchers, including Pettitte, who struck out 18.

Finally, the Yankees and Pirates finished all square. Rasmus was the top Yankees hitter, while Strasburg and Zimmermann combined for a win and 25 strikeouts and Valverde had three saves. Cano was Pontypridd’s top batter, while Sale was the pick of the Piurates’ pitchers.

The results leave the Sox and Riverkings in a tie at the top, with the Chasers four games back in third.
