MLB This Week: Distractions from the football transfer deadline

by Matt Smith

CovMLBUK2014There’s early baseball to enjoy on three games out of five this working week as we head into the final month of the MLB regular season.

The football transfer window closes at 23.30 on Wednesday and will bring the usual chaos of mad rumours about players whilst the media and fans alike conveniently forget how few players that move on deadline day end up being worth the attention. MLB provides the perfect distraction to it all with some excellent pitchers scheduled to be on show, most notably in the Sale-Verlander duel in Detroit.

There are only four games in total on Thursday and the early one of the bunch is between the Padres and Braves.

Friday brings us a game from Wrigley with the San Francisco Giants visiting Chicago for a weekend series against the Cubs.
