Early games this week

by Matt Smith

Only two weeks to go. Where has the season gone?! Better make the most of the live action while we can. Here’s my guide to the games you can follow live during the British evening this week. All times are listed in BST.

Monday – No early games today. The Tigers start their series in Cleveland with Kenny Rogers matching up against Paul Byrd at just after midnight.

Tuesday – It’s a double-header in Colorado between the Rockies and the Dodgers, ensuring that we have one early game starting at 20.05 (probable pitchers are Billingsley and Francis). Later on, there are plenty of aces about with Justin Verlander facing the Indians (00.05), Ben Sheets pitching against the Astros (01.05), Cole Hamels taking on the Cardinals (01.10), John Lackey looking for his seventeenth win against the Rays (03.05) and a great match up in Chicago where Aaron Harang lines up against Carlos Zambrano (01.05).

Wednesday – Three early games today. C.C. Sabathia takes the mound in Cleveland to face the Tigers (17.05), Felix Hernandez looks to have more success against the A’s, and the D-Rays and the Angels finish their series with James Shields and Bartolo Colon set to start (both games 20.35).

Thursday – It’s the battle to avoid the AL Central basement at 19.10, as Jon Garland and the White Sox face Zach Greinke and the Royals. In the other two early games, Derek Lowe pitches against the Rockies (20.05) and the Pirates take on the Padres with Brett Tomko scheduled to start (20.35).

Friday – A Friday day game at Wrigley to end the week as the Pirates roll into town. First pitch is scheduled for 19.20.
