Home MLBBST Game Guides Eleven early games this week

Eleven early games this week

by Matt Smith

It’s Interleague play week in MLB, which doesn’t seem to have much bearing on the number of early games being played.  We start the week off slowly today and tomorrow, but there’s a bumper day on Thursday and an exciting game to look forward to on Friday evening.  As always, all times are listed in BST.

Monday 16th – No early games and only five later on, although two look like being potential crackers.  The Red Sox face the Phillies (first pitch just after midnight) with Bartolo Colon matching up against Cole Hamels.  Later on (03.15) it’s the Tigers against the Giants with Justin Verlander and Tim Lincecum being the scheduled starters.

Tuesday 17th – We come up empty again today.  There’s a full slate of fifteen games later on, with the Mets’ game against the Angels (03.05) the pick of the bunch.  Johan Santana versus John Lackey anyone?  Good luck to the batters in that one.

Wednesday 18th – Our live baseball week starts today with two decent match-ups.  At 18.05, the Red Sox take on the Phillies with Justin Masterson scheduled to make the start for Boston.  At 20.45, the impressive Armando Galarraga takes the mound for the Tigers as they face Barry Zito and the Giants.

Thursday 19th – Good old ‘getaway’ Thursday brings us eight early games to choose from.  We start in Cincinnati at 17.35 where Derek Lowe and the Dodgers are scheduled to face Aaron Harang.  At 18.05, it’s the small matter of a Joba Chamberlain start at Yankee Stadium, this one coming against the Padres.  Five minutes later, the Nationals take on Kevin Slowey and the Twins at the Metrodome.  Three games are scheduled to begin at 19.05: the Braves versus the Rangers, the Pirates versus the White Sox and the Blue Jays versus the Brewers.  Ten minutes later, Zack Greinke and the Royals start their match against Todd Wellemeyer and the Cardinals.  Finally the A’s face the D-Backs in the desert from 20.40, with Greg Smith and Doug Davis set to start.

Friday 20th – The Cubs often offer us Brits an early evening game from Wrigley Field on a Friday and this week’s match-up should be well worth getting the beers in for.  It’s the North side versus the South side in round one of the battle of Chicago.  First pitch is scheduled for 19.20.

Wednesday night baseball on Five begins at 01.30 this week. NASN’s MLB schedule for the week can be found here.

Will use your list as an indicator as to what I should watch. Got my five day free trial, though have burned through one day just trying to get the damn software to work. Mosaic works on one machine but the other. The website video works on the other machine, but not the one that can run Mosaic. That runs on my desktop which is in the corner of the hottest room of the apartment… irritating.

Mosaic runs on my laptop, just has no video. Sounds work fine… I last tried Mosaic a year or so ago and it had major issues then. 12 months on, bugger all has changed…

Still, I did get to see about half an inning of Sunday Night Baseball…

Hi Drood

I gave up on Mosaic pretty quickly. Not only did I find it didn’t run very well for me, I also started having some general PC problems after I installed it, which went away when I uninstalled Mosaic from my machine.

Don’t forget, my times are all in British summer time!

Mosaic seems to run great for me. No other system issues. Just no damn picture on my laptop. GRR!!

And yes, I know they’re BST:) Midnight for you is 5pm for me. Plan on watching the Boston/Philly game tonight. Be the first game I’ve watched since Boston hit those four back to back HR’s last year! In other words the end of my LAST MLB TV trial:) I don’t have cable anymore. It’s pretty sad. A terrestrial channel in the UK shows baseball. Here, in a country with a team in the league, it’s all cable. And then 90% of the bloody Blue Jays games. (You may remember I have no love for the Jays. They’re 3000 km’s away from me, and have no relevance. Colorado and Seattle are more my home teams.)

I’m an idiot BTW. The video issue is due to settings I changed to help Radio Le Mans stream better for me this past weekend. Fixed now. Mosaic working great. WOO!
