A history of the Leicester Green Sox (1954–64) told via cuttings

by Joe Gray

John Varnam got in touch with me a few weeks ago mentioning that he had pulled together a history of the Leicester Green Sox Baseball Club (1954–64), primarily based on a collection of cuttings, a copy of which he could send through to me along with various other items of British baseball memorabilia. This post details some of these generous additions to the Project COBB collection.

  • John’s “Leicester Green Sox” scrapbook can be viewed here.
  • John also donated previously missing copies of Baseball Courier (issues 10 and 11) – available here.
  • Thirdly, the 1956 South Eastern Baseball League handbook has been added.
  • Other items include a 1956 Nottingham Baseball League schedule (available here) and, from the 1980s,  the 1984 Euro B-Pool programme, a 1986 national final ticket, and a 1988 Scottish Amicable schedule poster for Harvey Hadden Stadium.
